The Yamaha YZR-M1 seems to be the least competitive bike in MotoGP at the start of this season. Álex Rins finished 11th in the Argentina GP, which was far from easy.
Asked if there was anything positive to take from Termas de Río Hondo, the Monster Energy Yamaha rider said: ‘Managing to finish the race with the soft [tyre]. It was quite difficult’.
According to Rins, the front end of the YZR-M1 has no issues – quite the opposite. The weaknesses lie in traction and edge grip:
– No, the front is nice. The front of the Yamaha is super good. The problem is the traction, the edge grip. We have to wait a lot. In the warm-up, I tried a power delivery really, really on the ground. It was better, there was less spin, but then I was struggling to exit from the corners.
