Somkiat Chantra will replace Takaaki Nakagami at LCR Honda in 2025, moving up to MotoGP. As he navigates the premier class, he will have support from his predecessor.
The Japanese rider, who remains connected to Honda as a development rider, will also assist Chantra – at least during the Barcelona test following next week’s GP.
Quoted by Crash.net, Nakagami revealed: ‘I think on Tuesday I will be an advisor of Chantra. It will be a different job. Let’s see how different after the race. From Monday, I think I will step back and stay with the engineers to understand what they planning for the test’.
Regarding his role with Chantra, the #30 said: ‘I will be next to Chantra because HRC asked me to help. But at least for me it’s just about being there and letting Chantra try the bike. Because if I explain everything before he jumps on the MotoGP bike, it’s too much. So just I want to say to him, just try to ride in a natural way and [understand] the difference between the Moto2 and MotoGP. This is the main target for him and then let’s see’.
