Stéphane Peterhansel will participate in the 2025 Africa Eco Race with the Ténéré Yamaha Rally Team. However, he won’t compete in all stages of the event, unlike Alessandro Botturi and Pol Tarrés.
The legendary French rider will take part in stages 6 and 7, riding a Yamaha motorcycle featuring a livery inspired by the colors he used during his time with the Iwata-based manufacturer in the 1990s.
It was with Yamaha that Peterhansel began his Dakar career, racing in Africa on a route similar to the one used in the Africa Eco Race today.
After making his Dakar debut in 1988, Peterhansel raced with Yamaha until 1998 (he did not compete in 1994), winning six times. He then transitioned to car racing, where he secured eight more victories. This time, he has decided to take a break, but has left the door open for a potential return in the future.
