Sergio García’s Moto2 title ambitions have taken a setback. The rider had to undergo another surgery, meaning he will not return to the track at the GP of the Americas.
The QJMotor-Frinsa-MSi rider crashed on the final day of pre-season testing in Jerez, fracturing a finger on his right hand. He traveled to Termas de Río Hondo for the Argentina GP but was declared unfit to race by medical staff.
Following the second round of the season, García consulted Dr. Xavier Mir, and it was decided that another surgery with a different treatment approach was necessary. The Spaniard explained on social media that he will miss Austin:
– After returning from Argentina, I underwent a medical examination to check the condition of the fracture in my right hand. After speaking with Dr. Mir, he decided that the best option was to operate again and use a different method. We inform you that I won’t be able to race in Austin, but we will come back stronger and more eager than ever for the Qatar race.
