With Jorge Martín’s move to Aprilia coinciding with Romano Albesiano’s departure to Honda and Fabiano Sterlacchini’s arrival at Noale, Ramón Forcada expresses concerns about the impact on Martín.
Speaking on the Duralavita podcast, Forcada drew a comparison with Ducati: ‘Technically, the situation is complicated. You test the bike and ask things from someone who doesn’t know it. When you ask Gigi [Dall’Igna] about the Ducati, he doesn’t even need to think’.
He continued, noting Aprilia’s key figure moving to Honda with Aleix Espargaró: ‘With all respect to Fabiano, who is an excellent technician, when Martín asks him certain things about the Aprilia, he has to check the manual and say ‘Wait, I don’t know this, this was made by Romano Albesiano who’s now at Honda’.
Questions remain about Aprilia’s future with a world champion and the challenges #89 will face riding a bike that still lags behind Ducati in competitiveness.
