Rahal Dominates Long Beach Warmup Session
In a stunning display of speed, Graham Rahal left his competitors in the dust during the warmup session leading up to the highly anticipated Acura GP of Long Beach. Despite his 16th place starting position, Rahal clocked an impressive lap time of 1m08.0151s in his No. 15 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Honda, outpacing Josef Newgarden from Team Penske by 0.33s.
Newgarden, who will start in 15th place, faces an uphill battle as he tries to match Rahal’s pace in his No. 2 Team Penske Chevrolet. Meanwhile, Marcus Armstrong of Meyer Shank Racing Honda claimed the third spot in the session, trailing Rahal by a mere 0.13s.
Interestingly, the majority of drivers have opted for the green alternate tires for the race start, with only six out of 27 entries choosing to go with Firestone’s primary compound, none of whom are within the top 11 starting positions.
Excitement is building as the Acura GP of Long Beach is set to kick off at 4:30pm ET, airing on FOX. Racing enthusiasts are in for a thrilling showdown as these drivers battle it out on the iconic Long Beach street circuit.
Stay tuned for more updates on the starting line-up and tire designations as the race day unfolds.
