QJMotor, a rising Chinese manufacturer in the global motorcycle market, has just unveiled its latest proposal for the adventure segment: the SRT 800 RX. This new model positions itself as a strong competitor to the renowned Yamaha Ténéré 700, presenting impressive technical specifications and a promise of a competitive price.
Reduced weight and promising specifications
With a curb weight of only 198 kg, including a full 20-liter tank, the SRT 800 RX is lighter than its Japanese rival, which weighs 205 kg. The structure is based on a steel frame with a bolted subframe, a solution that facilitates any repairs after off-road use.
Engine and performance
At the heart of the machine we find a 799 cc parallel twin-cylinder engine, with DOHC architecture and 8 valves, capable of developing 92.5 hp at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 77 Nm at 8,000 rpm. The six-speed gearbox dispenses with a quickshifter, prioritizing mechanical simplicity.
Quality components
The suspension, apparently supplied by Marzocchi, includes an inverted fork at the front and a rear monoshock. Although the suspension travel has not yet been officially confirmed, it is speculated to exceed 200 mm. The spoked wheels have dimensions of 21 inches at the front and 18 at the rear, shod with tubeless off-road tires in the sizes 90/90-21 and 140/70-18, respectively. Braking is handled by Brembo components, with radial four-piston calipers at the front, complemented by ABS and traction control as standard.
Technology and equipment
The full LED lighting includes auxiliary headlights and turn signals integrated into the handguards – an aesthetically interesting solution, but one that could prove problematic in the event of a fall. The TFT instrument panel offers smartphone connectivity, matching the current standards of the segment.
Availability and expectations
The arrival on the European market is scheduled for spring 2025. Although the final price has not yet been announced, it is expected to be significantly lower than that of the Yamaha Ténéré 700, a factor that could be decisive for the success of this model in the competitive European adventure motorcycle market.
