The Preicanos Racing Team, which debuted in the Moto2 World Championship mid-season, has reverted to its original name, GasUp Racing Team, amidst a legal conflict between its leader, Raúl Castañeda, and former team owner Edu Perales.
Social media platforms already reflect the change, with references to Preicanos Racing Moto2 replaced by GasUp Racing Team. The contracted riders for the project are Daniel Muñoz and Jaume Masiá.
Raúl Castañeda’s project was ambitious, even recruiting prominent technicians like Giovanni Sandi and Toni Elias. However, according to Sky Sport, during the acquisition process, Preicanos gained only management rights, while the grid slots remained under the ownership of Stop&Go.
With Perales refusing to relinquish control, Castañeda chose to withdraw and take legal action. For now, Perales has regained control of the GasUp Racing Team, at least until the matter is resolved in court.
