MotoGP newcomer Pedro Acosta is gearing up for a pivotal showdown at the upcoming French Grand Prix in Le Mans, carrying forward momentum from a series of impressive performances. The 19-year-old rider from Red Bull-Tech3-GASGAS team, currently a strong contender in the championship standings, has his eyes set on mastering the iconic Le Mans circuit—a track known for its rigorous Stop-and-Go layout.
Following a standout podium finish at Jerez, Acosta expressed his readiness to tackle the challenges of Le Mans, drawing from lessons learned and gains made in recent races. “We come to Le Mans with many things in our backpack that we learned in Jerez,” Acosta shared with Speedweek, highlighting his preparedness and strategic approach to the race.
Despite his youth, Acosta has shown a mature grasp of the intricacies of MotoGP racing, consistently improving his skills and understanding of the bike’s capabilities. “After four racing weekends, we knew what areas we needed to improve. The test in Jerez on Monday helped us a lot, and I think that puts us in a much better situation for France,” Acosta elaborated.
Le Mans holds a special place in Acosta’s racing calendar, not only because of his affinity for the circuit but also because it represents the home race for his Tech3 team. His past experiences at the track have been mixed, with notable challenges during his Moto2 stint. However, Acosta is optimistic about his prospects, fueled by his recent successes and the strong form he’s displayed early in the season.
Determined to secure an advantageous start for the race, Acosta emphasized the importance of a strong qualifying performance. “We will try to bring out our best performance. Here, we want to focus on qualifying and give absolutely everything for an optimal starting position,” he stated, underscoring his tactical focus.
The French Grand Prix at Le Mans is not just another race for Acosta; it’s a chance to affirm his status as a rising star in the sport, in front of a crowd known for their passion for motorcycle racing. With his blend of youthful enthusiasm and increasingly sharp racing acumen, Acosta is poised to make a significant impact, potentially shaping up to be one of the highlights of this MotoGP season.
