Pedro Acosta has just made his debut in MotoGP and may be facing his first significant physical problem since joining the premier class. The issue at hand is arm pump in his left arm, which may require surgery after the Portuguese GP.
According to Motorsport.com, the Spanish rider from Red Bull GasGas Tech3 will be examined by doctors on Monday after the Portimão round. These physical problems may explain Acosta’s drop in performance in the final stages of the Qatar GP – initially, tyre issues were blamed, but the analysis may have ruled out that cause.
The rookie also experienced pain in his left forearm, which may also be caused by his posture on the bike – which changed between testing and the Qatar GP. However, if arm pump is confirmed, Acosta will have three weeks to undergo surgery and recover in time for the Americas GP, scheduled for April 5-7.
