The MotoGP Catalan GP was marked by the impressive crash of Francesco Bagnaia in turn two. Right on the opening lap, the Ducati rider suffered a highside and was run over in the leg area by Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). Apparently, he escaped from more serious injuries.
Speaking to DAZN, Marc Márquez (Repsol Honda) – who was not involved in the incident – admitted that it was difficult to regain focus for the race restart. Furthermore, he emphasized that Bagnaia was fortunate not to have suffered worse consequences in an crash that was scary:
– It was difficult. For MotoGP riders, it’s very tough to get back into that concentration mode. What happened in the first corner can happen; this is racing. Those who make mistakes are penalized, and that’s it. But what happened to Pecco is scary because he was in the middle of the track. Fortunately, they said his legs were okay. He was very lucky. And after ten minutes, you have to restart. But, well, you have to be professional and refocus to continue your race.
