With one round left in the MotoGP season, the title fight is between two Ducati-linked riders – Jorge Martín of the satellite Prima Pramac team and Francesco Bagnaia of the factory team.
The two riders are separated by 24 points heading into the decisive GP of Barcelona. Martín leads and is much closer to becoming champion than Bagnaia, but both riders have shown themselves to be clearly superior to the competition this season.
Davide Tardozzi, Ducati’s team manager, acknowledged in comments reported by AS.com that the Italian has made too many errors this year, but has also demonstrated an impressive level of skill with his ten main race wins:
– Pecco is strong. Unfortunately, he made too many mistakes this year, with too many crashes in races. Seven race crashes are too many, although he managed to win ten Sunday races out of 19, which is astonishing. That leaves him 24 points behind Jorge.
On the one hand, Tardozzi praises Bagnaia’s abilities, while on the other, he recognizes Martín’s better management of the championship: ‘That says two things: one is that Pecco is incredibly fast, but also that Jorge is a champion. Hats off to Jorge, who managed the championship better than we did. And Pecco has also shown that he is incredibly fast and a true champion’.
