After winning his second MotoGP world title, Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia is the main «target to beat» in the fight for the title and, with so many highly competitive riders, he couldn’t name the main challenger to his throne.
With another intense MotoGP season ahead, faced with the difficulty of maintaining consistency, Bagnaia makes it clear that he believes he will have a well set plan: ‘My plan is to be at the top in all 44 races, we try, and of course you have to have a strategy, a line. Last year we were very prepared for everything, I think it was my best year in terms of preparation, but we also had three weeks in May and five weeks in July [off] and this year we’ll have just three weeks in July and I’ll still have the marriage. We’ll see. But I think thanks to our trainer we’ll plan everything as well as possible and we’ll be ready for anything’.
Regarding the great competitiveness that will exist in 2024, with Jorge Martín once again committed to chasing the World Championship (and a place in the factory team), as well as the many expectations that lie ahead of Marc Márquez, Bagnaia admits that he can’t make any predictions right now about who his biggest rival will be:
– It’s very difficult to know. All the Ducati riders are competitive, fast, and I think that in relation to the other teams we’ve taken a step forward. Yamaha, Honda… KTM was already competitive last year, Aprilia will certainly take a step forward, so it’s very difficult to predict now. Let’s wait, and we’ll find out together what it will be like.
