Jorge Martín couldn’t replicate his victory in the Sprint race, finishing the Qatar Grand Prix in third place in the main race. The Prima Pramac rider was unable to keep up with the leader Francesco Bagnaia (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and eventually lost position to Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) as well. Towards the end, he still had hopes of overtaking the South African when he had to react to the approach of Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati).
In an interview with the official broadcast, Martín stated that he tried to control his pace, but had to attack when he saw the podium at risk due to Márquez’s approach. In any case, he expressed satisfaction with the Losail round:
– Today was a difficult race. I started quite well, but then straighaway I was trying to manage a bit the tyre and Pecco was pushing a bit more at that point. The pace was really fast compared to last season. I was trying to control the rear grip, trying to manage for the end. And when I saw Marc was coming it was one-to-one battle with the pace, I tried to push a lot. He was pushing so much, but I was able to push to make that gap and almost try a move on Brad. But finally, P3 and yesterday’s win, with a lot of points for the weekend, so I’m pleased and I’m really looking forward to the next one.
