It’s no secret that KTM has made a significant effort to have at least a fifth bike in MotoGP in 2024. However, Dorna prevented the creation of a new satellite team, and none of the current teams were at the end of their contracts with their respective manufacturers – a situation that will change in 2024.
Nevertheless, KTM does not see expanding to a fifth bike as a priority at this time. Pit Beirer, KTM Motorsport director, ensured that the focus is on preparing for the season with the current four bikes… although they are still monitoring the situation of satellite teams:
– One bike more? At the moment we are not really looking into that option. There are contracts ending and there are possibilities, so for sure we are talking with the people who are not fixed under contract. But of course it’s so early now, we are looking into this season. We have the riders we want onboard and we are working with the four bikes in the group. But we are still open to listen if somebody will be ready to swap bikes or not. But that’s not the main topic right now; now it’s really time to focus on the four riders we have.
