Yamaha has officially announced Paolo Pavesio as the future Managing Director of Yamaha Motor Racing, succeeding Lin Jarvis starting January 1, 2025.«
Last April, the British executive announced his departure from the role at the end of the season after 26 years – a period during which he contributed to eight riders’ titles, six constructors’ championships, and seven team titles in MotoGP. In 2025, Jarvis will serve as Senior Advisor for Yamaha Motor Racing.
Pavesio, who has been with the company for 11 years, has no prior experience with the MotoGP project. However, he oversaw the restructuring of Yamaha Motor Europe’s motorsports division, leading to world championship titles in Superbike, Motocross (MXGP), and Endurance World Championship.
Takahiro Sumi, general manager of Motor Sports Development Division at Yamaha Motor Co., stated: ‘Both personally and on behalf of Yamaha, I would like to thank Lin for his dedication and achievements over the past 26 years. His commitment, diligence, and leadership have been instrumental in Yamaha‘s success in MotoGP, and I am happy that we will still have access to his knowledge and experience going forward’.
Regarding Pavesio, the Japanese leader commented: ‘Lin will be succeeded as Managing Director by Paolo Pavesio, who brings to the role a wealth of experience gained at Yamaha Motor Europe where, as Marketing & Motorsport Director, he guided Yamaha teams to World Championship titles in WorldSBK, EWC, and MXGP. I look forward to welcoming Paolo to Yamaha Motor Racing in January and, under his leadership, I am confident that Yamaha can secure the future success in MotoGP that we are all striving for’.
