What everyone was waiting for is finally here: the MotoGP Race Direction will not apply have penalties to both Álex Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia for the crash that happened today in Aragon’s race.
There was a meeting with both riders involved in the crash, A. Márquez and Bagnaia, with video and images to be seen and analysed by the Stewards, plus telemetry of both riders and in the end there was no further action taken, with the crash to be considered a racing incident.
Therefore for the next GP in Misano everyone will start as usual and be responsible for whatever happens on track, as the Race Direction didn’t sanctioned anyone.
Stay with the Stewards Panel Activity Report:
– The incident between Bagnia #1 and Marquez #73 on Lap 18 at Turn 13 was placed under investigation and reviewed after the race. The FIM MotoGP* stewards interviewed both riders and heard the explanation of the incident from both riders’ point of view. During the hearing, both riders explained that the grip levels off the racing line were difficult and, in the stewards’ opinion, were a contributing factor to the riders’ options to avoid contact.
And it ended: ‘The conclusion of the FIM MotoGP Stewards, after taking all points into consideration, and without any conclusive evidentiary factor, is that neither rider was responsible for the incident’.
