Starting in 2027, there may be a limit on the number of bikes each manufacturer can have in the MotoGP field. Currently, Ducati has a clear advantage over the others by providing bikes to three satellite teams, totaling eight motorcycles in a grid of 22 riders.
Naturally, having more bikes on track means more opportunities to experiment with solutions and exchange data, potentially giving a competitive advantage. Ducati currently has the strongest bike in the field, and it’s not uncommon to see the majority of Desmosedici GP machines dominating the top positions.
According to GPOne.com, the FIM and Dorna are considering changing this scenario with the new regulations in 2027, including the possibility of limiting the number of customer teams for each manufacturer. Ducati may not be too concerned about losing bikes, as they have expressed their intention to have two fewer bikes in the future.
