While Jorge Martín leads the MotoGP championship ahead of Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini (Ducati), his Prima Pramac teammate, Franco Morbidelli, has fallen behind in the standings.
An injury in January sidelined the Italian forced him to miss all the pre-season and to adapt to the Ducati Desmosedici GP24 and Pramac team during the races, leaving him significantly behind. However, now he is now getting involved in the fight for top positions.
Even though this won’t significantly boost his championship standing, he could still be an asset to Ducati. Team manager Gino Borsoi emphasized that Morbidelli’s presence could be beneficial:
– We have a lot of Grand Prix’s ahead of us. For sure now Morbidelli is also part of the game, as I said several times. Maybe he can help us and Jorge to fight for the title, let’s see.
Borsoi also acknowledged the strong competition and remained cautious: ‘We have five races ahead of us, it’s a lot of races, we know Pecco and Bastianini are strong, Marc [Márquez] is still there, so we need to think race by race, avoid any mistakes, and that’s it’.
