In the Moto2 World Championship, the lap record at Mandalika was also broken this Friday — by Ai Ogura, who set the fastest time in Practice 1 of the Indonesian GP.
Manuel González (QJMotor Gresini/Kalex) led after the first few laps and managed to hold the top spot with his second attempt before being surpassed by Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) 11 minutes into the session.
Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro) took the lead for the first time shortly after, but was quickly overtaken by Fermín Aldeguer. The Spaniard from Beta Tools SpeedUp stayed in front for over a quarter of an hour until Arbolino regained the top position.
In the final five minutes, the lead changed hands four times before Ogura set the fastest time and a new lap record of 1m33.690s. Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) finished second, 0.057s behind, followed by Arbolino.
Aldeguer was fourth, with Somkiat Chantra (Idemitsu Honda Team Asia/Kalex) completing the top five. Sixth and seventh places were shared by Jake Dixon (CFMOTO Inde Aspar/Kalex) and Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP/Kalex), both finishing 0.359s off the top.
