Another race and a new winner in the AMA 250SX, with Nate Thrasher getting the better of the competition in San Diego. The Yamaha rider was the clearest in the final part of the race and the one who made the best decisions to make his winning debut in 2024. Jordon Smith maintains his lead in the championship.
RJ Hampshire took the holeshot in the evening’s main event, with Ryder DiFrancesco close behind, but Levi Kitchen quickly moved into second place, with Mitchell Oldenburg third and Jordon Smith fourth.
Oldenburg was first overtaken by Smith and then by Garrett Marchbanks, but it was Kitchen in front who was fighting with Hampshire for the lead, while on the rise was Nate Thrasher, glued to Smith fighting for fourth place.
Kitchen was second but crashed and in no time the fight was for second place. Marchbanks launched himself into the lead as the race neared the halfway point, with Thrasher joining the front trio.
With the front-runners catching up with the lagging riders, it culminated in Thrasher taking advantage and moving into the lead. Marchbanks was second and Hampshire third.
It was Hampshire who saw his third place go up in smoke, crashing on the last lap, unhurt, but Smith took advantage.
So victory went to Thrasher, with Marchbanks second and Smith third.
