The 2024 MotoGP season begins this weekend, marking Enea Bastianini’s second season with the Ducati factory team. As such, he is one of the contenders for the title and is determined to improve and make any necessary changes.
The #23 revealed that he will approach the new season with some differences: ‘My approach to this season is a little bit different compared to other seasons because my goal is to be more constant – also compared to the 2022 season, because I won four races and I made some podiums, but sometimes I was behind. And I think I’ve also worked very well during the tests to approach better the time attack – because it’s important to stay always on top and to demonstrate we stay always on top. My approach this year will be a little bit different, but let’s see’.
Bastianini then explained how his approach will be different: ‘To be more aggressive from the start, because it’s important to be always on the front, in all the sessions – because if you need time to arrive on the target sometimes it’s too late. This MotoGP is different compared to some years ago and it’s always one fight’.
Asked if this aggressiveness is something he can train, the Italian replied: ‘I think it’s more a mental situation, because I’m not really aggressive on the start and also in my riding style. You see my races and every time I’m much fast during the last part. I work mentally to be faster on the start compared to the last part of the race. It’s also important to train and to think about it, but the mental condition is much more important’.
