Fabio Di Giannantonio has one more GP ahead of him but before that, in Australia, he had one of his best performances of the year by finishing fourth in yesterday’s long race at Phillip Island, and he partially regretted a ‘small mistake’ that cost him some time and that would allow him ‘perhaps’ to fight with Pecco Bagnaia for the podium positions.
To the press, the Italian regretted what he considers to have been not necessarily a mistake, but which ended up slowing him down a bit: ‘Let’s say I made a small mistake… Well, it wasn’t a real mistake but we intended to use all the maps we had but when I switched to the others I started to go slower, it wasn’t necessary to change, and 1s delay on the right map and the bike started to work well again and I was able to do my rhythm again, the rhythm I knew how to do and in the end I was very very fast’.
Third place could even be a reality, if, he admits, he had not made the changes, thus allowing him to have the rhythm to try to “attack” the current world champion:
– Also for that reason without changing maps I could be fast and maybe catch Pecco at the end, but yes, we have to be happy and stay positive, see the positive things since after the injury it was my best performance of the year and that means we are back at the top even if the shoulder is not 100%.
