Miguel Oliveira put an end to the rumours that he was on the road to Honda, and today in Buriram he clarified that there is no news about his future, while also guaranteeing that he is not in talks with the Japanese manufacturer.
A MotoGP reporter asked Oliveira about the most talked about topic in the riders’ market of recent times: ‘Obviously there’s still a lot of talk about your future, you got anything to tell us about what’s been happening over the last few weeks’: with the portuguese being short of words: ‘No, not much more [to say]’.
Asked if he was in discussions with the japanese manufacturer or if something was happening, he replied: ‘No, we are not, no’.
It’s worth remembering that on more than one occasion Oliveira has said that the Honda possibility was real, emphasising his desire to be part of a factory team, something that isn’t likely to happen in 2024 with Aprilia, since the manufacturer will have to continue with Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales, both riders who have also been tipped to succeed Marc Márquez.
It should also be noted that, according to the international press, the portuguese rider would have asked, or was interested in a three-year contract.
