Miguel Oliveira was one of the riders that Honda approached for the seat left by Marc Márquez in MotoGP in 2024. However, he chose to stay with CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP Team and Aprilia, considering the contract that was proposed to him.
The Japanese team suggested a one-year deal with no guarantees for the future, not offering many advantages. When asked by the press if anything would have been different if Honda had offered him a two-year contract, Oliveira stated:
– It would be different for sure. It’s a factory seat, I can only to have the factory seat – probably – in 2025 or 2026. So in this case they would offer me more than what I have now. But still I would have to break a relationship. I think that’s pretty clear. So that’s why I’m happy where I am now.
