The final round of the year in MotoGP can often serve as a distraction in part for fans of the category, with them already thinking about the future and changes when this does not always happen to the riders themselves, and that is exactly the current situation of Miguel Oliveira who returns to the competition this weekend.
The Portuguese is currently more focused on the weekend of races ahead, than on what could happen on Tuesday’s test, where he should make his debut on the Yamaha M1 and in the Pramac Racing garage:
– I don’t know how much I can expect from Tuesday’s tests because it’s only one day. I’m looking very much to the future, but with the injury I’m also looking very much to this weekend in general and hopefully fit enough to drive through all the sessions and races, to get the feeling and speed back.
If it’s important for you to have this weekend and not start ‘from scratch’ the Portuguese was clear: ‘No, no. I would give you the same answer as we did in the time of Covid-19 when we had back to back races’.
And he showed again that the focus is on this GP and what can happen: ‘You can always improve and especially this weekend when we have a softer tire specification on the rear and so maybe qualifying will be faster, I don’t know. Let’s see how it goes’.
