After the MotoGP tests in Sepang, there are only two more days of testing before the start of the season at the Qatar GP. For now, Francesco Bagnaia considers it difficult to make accurate predictions about who could be the main contenders for the top positions, but he believes there could be a great balance at the beginning.
The Ducati rider stated: ‘It’s very difficult to predict during a test because many riders were testing many things. I don’t want to speak about anyone but myself. On Thursday I did a good long run, but I was having a problem during the long run and I was a bit slower than normal. So you can say: «Pecco wasn’t fast in the long run». So it’s very difficult to know, it depends on the tyres, it depends on many things’.
Nevertheless, Bagnaia did not fail to mention some opponents he saw in good shape: ‘I think a rider who will be competitive would be Enea [Bastianini] because he worked well and was quite consistent. [Jorge] Martín for sure, but also I think [Marc] Márquez did a good test improving each day. Álex [Márquez] was always competitive here and he demonstrated also in this test that he’s very competitive. So it’s very difficult, but also KTM, Aprilia. Maybe the start of the season will be more open compared to other years’.
