Jorge Martín came close to ending Friday with a new lap record at Mandalika. During the MotoGP Indonesian GP Practice, the championship leader was the first to break the record but was eventually surpassed by Enea Bastianini (Ducati), who was 0.040s faster.
For the Spanish rider from Prima Pramac, it was a particularly satisfying day. Although he feels he could have done more during his time attack, he was impressed by the pace:
– The day was really good, I’m super happy. I was fast straightaway in the first run, and then I was fast all the day. I’m very happy. I feel I might be missing a little bit in the time attack, but there was a lot of traffic, so maybe I could’ve done better. But with the pace, I’m really impressed about how fast we are going. It seems Enea is also quite competitive at the moment. Let’s see tomorrow.
When asked if there was any part of the circuit where he felt less comfortable, Martín replied: ‘There isn’t a particular Sector; I’m feeling strong. There are two corners where I had some issues during the time attack, which maybe I can improve tomorrow. But I really enjoyed riding here, I really liked it, and it’s coming really natural. So, I’m really happy’.
