Fabio Di Giannantonio was one of the riders who made headlines in the MotoGP last year with the 2022 version of the Ducati Desmosedici – especially in the final phase of the season, including a victory against Francesco Bagnaia with the GP23 in the last stages of its development.
In Valencia, the current rider for the Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team was able to test the 2023 bike and admitted that the differences from the 2022 version contribute to the significance of the results achieved last year:
– For sure when I was on my 2022 [bike] I was already seeing little differences when I was on track with Pecco and other guys. But then when I jumped on that bike, for sure I said: «Now I understand the differences». For sure what we achieved last year was fantastic for many reasons and the bike was one of those reasons. I think Ducati is super happy with our job last year for that – because maybe they didn’t think that with the 2022 [bike] could be possible to do a good job like what we’ve done.
Regarding his first impression about the 2023 version of the Ducati, Di Giannantonio commented: ‘The first touch in the 2023 was fantastic. For sure we have to work on some areas, but I think that bike has a lot of potential’.
