MotoGP is super competitive, but not everyone “enjoys” the same level of competitiveness, and Yamaha is currently suffering from a difference that seems minimal but has actually proven to be very significant, especially when compared to Ducati over 20 laps or more.
Looking at what happened in the championship’s last race, Max Bartolini spoke with Cras.net, where he recalled the difference between the bikes, and how currently the M1 requires something different from its riders: ‘It’s difficult to compare because of the different packages, so the [Yamaha bike] requires a different way of riding […]’.
The problem, he mentioned, lies in the bike’s competitiveness, and how important it is for riders not to exceed their limits when it comes to their riding, as a way to somehow try to mitigate the lack of speed:
– Now we suffer from the lack of [bike] performance in general, so you try to push to compensate, and sometimes it’s not easy. That’s one of the most difficult conditions; trying not to push too hard. But they’re doing a good job.
Yamaha is doing everything to recover and will have Pramac Racing as its satellite team in 2025, also counting on Miguel Oliveira and Jack Miller as riders.
