Maverick Viñales’ contract with Aprilia in MotoGP is valid until the end of 2024. However, he has been mentioned as one of the options to replace Marc Márquez at Repsol Honda.
Despite acknowledging that Honda would be desirable for any rider, the Spanish rider emphasized to the MotoGP website that his focus is on Aprilia: ‘I think it’s a scenario every rider would love to be. I know Honda is an amazing team. But right now my mind is here. I have six races to go. I want to improve, honestly. I want to improve, I want to finish the season in a really good moment and that’s the target. Because somehow we can’t make the weekend work: we are fast, we have the speed, but we are not able to make the weekend’.
When asked if a move to Honda in 2024 is out of the question, Viñales replied: ‘The future will see. I have contract, but I don’t know. In this world you never know anything. The important is to be focused on to tomorrow’.
