Jorge Martín became the 2024 MotoGP world champion riding a Prima Pramac Ducati, but if he chooses to wear the #1 in 2025, it will be on an Aprilia – as he is moving to the team after not being offered a spot in Borgo Panigale.
Davide Tardozzi, Ducati’s team manager, sparked some banter over the issue of rider’s number, stating: ‘If Aprilia wants to buy the number one, let’s see if they can keep it next year’.
In an interview with the championship’s official website, Aprilia Racing’s CEO, Massimo Rivola, responded to the triggering: ‘I think we have spent less than them for that number’.
Ducati has been the dominant manufacturer in MotoGP in recent years, while the Aprilia RS-GP managed only one Grand Prix victory this season outside of Ducati – thanks to Maverick Viñales in Austin. Now, with Martín and Marco Bezzecchi on board, Aprilia aims to win more regularly in 2025.
