The new year brings a fresh challenge for Marco Bezzecchi in MotoGP. For the first time, he will race as a factory team rider, leaving VR46 to join Aprilia – a move he announced on social media on January 1.
A long-held goal for the Italian, Bezzecchi highlighted his excitement in comments to SPEEEDWEEK.com: ‘I always knew this day would come. It has always been my goal to race for a factory team’.
After spending five years with VR46 – three of them in MotoGP between 2022 and 2024 – Bezzecchi believes the Valentino Rossi-owned team prepared him well for the next phase of his career: ‘I have been able to go through a perfect development path – with VR46 teams in Moto2 and MotoGP – and now comes the next step to a factory team’.
With about a month remaining until the first tests in Sepang—and after getting his first experience with the RS-GP in Barcelona last November – Bezzecchi is eagerly looking forward to the season: ‘I’m on my way… 2025, here I come!’, he wrote on social media.
