Marc Márquez reached the MotoGP summer break in third place in the championship, behind dominators Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati). The point gap is already considerable, but even so, Dennis Noyes believes that the Gresini rider remains in the title fight.
For the American, the eight-time world champion is a contender for this year’s title, potentially benefiting from the battle between the two main favorites: ‘Marc Márquez, for me, is one of the three candidates for the title. One thing that benefits him is that there are two riders from parallel teams who are taking points from each other. Márquez’s luck is this rivalry’.
With that said, Noyes stated on Radio Ocotillo that he expected different results from Márquez so far – particularly victories, which he has not yet achieved:
– At the beginning of the year, I thought Márquez needed to capitalize on the first half of the season, quite the opposite of last year. Because Márquez, now that we are almost at the end of the first half, has not won a single Sprint. Out of the 18 times he was on the grid, he finished on the podium nine times, eight times in second and once in third, but without any victories. I thought Márquez’s advantage would be at the beginning of the year, with the GP23, coming into his hands.
