Marc Márquez finished fourth in the MotoGP Austrian GP Despite not making it to the podium, he delivered an impressive comeback after initially dropping out of the top ten due to a holeshot device failure and a minor incident that set him back at the start of the race.
Michele Masini, team manager of Gresini Racing, expressed his admiration for Márquez’s performance. Speaking to the newspaper AS, Masini highlighted that Márquez consistently matched the pace of the frontrunners in Spielberg, even though there is still some ground to cover to compete at the very top during races:
– It was a show, where the start and the contact with [Franco] Morbidelli penalized us, costing us several positions, but the pace Marc had was truly impressive. The most positive aspect is that he was fast throughout the weekend, consistently matching the leaders, although we still lack something to stay with the frontrunners during the race. It’s important to have finished so strongly to carry the same pace into Aragón.
After the Austrian GP, Márquez remains in fourth place in the championship. The fight for the title seems increasingly distant, and he’s also losing touch with the championship podium at this stage, where Enea Bastianini (Ducati) is showing both speed and consistency.
