Marc Márquez and Pecco Bagnaia form a fearsome duo in the Ducati factory team, but the two have faced off on track on numerous occasions, always in search of glory.
Between the two riders, who now share the Ducati Lenovo Team garage, they have accumulated 11 Grand Prix world titles. With Marquez joining Bagnaia in Bologna red for next season, there is a strong chance that number will increase to 12 by the end of the 2025 campaign.
After the Ducati team’s presentation in Italy, let’s take a trip back in time and look back at some of the most memorable battles between the #93 and the consecutive king of MotoGP.
Aragon 2021
Bagnaia vs Marquez, Ducati vs Honda. At the 2021 Aragon Grand Prix, the two riders were in a league of their own, putting on a fascinating fight. At that point, Bagnaia had yet to win a race in the top category – but by holding off attacks from Márquez, the Italian took the first of his 22 victories (up to the Italian GP).
Portimao 2024
It wasn’t long before the pair were embroiled in a heated battle after Marquez switched from Honda to Ducati that season. At the Portuguese GP, both riders crashed after contact at Turn 5, in the final laps, while fighting for a place in the top five.
Jerez 2024
The battle we all knew would happen, but we didn’t know when – or how epic it would be. With Márquez now in a competitive machine, the Spaniard – competing on home soil – took on the reigning World Champion. And what a spectacle we were given.
Le Mans 2024
2024 was not short of great races, with the record Le Mans crowd enjoying a three-way fight for victory between Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), Bagnaia and Márquez. On the final lap, Márquez made a late pass on the inside of the #1, stealing second place from his future teammate.
The clash between these two living legends promises to continue to be one of the greatest spectacles in MotoGP, especially now that they share the same team and the same unwavering will to win.
