In a somewhat controversial decision for fans, Ducati chose Marc Márquez for its factory MotoGP team in 2025, over Jorge Martín – who competes for the satellite Prima Pramac Racing team at the same level as Francesco Bagnaia from the factory team, fighting for the title for the second consecutive year.
Márquez, on the other hand, joined Gresini this season after very challenging years – not only suffering from serious injuries but also experiencing a significant performance drop from Honda. Additionally, Martín has more future potential at 26 years old, while the #93 Márquez has established his credentials with six titles in the premier class but is now 31.
After nine rounds, Márquez occupies third place in the championship, consistently trailing only Bagnaia and Martín – and this with last year’s bike version. Davide Tardozzi, Ducati team manager, spoke about Márquez on the MotoGP website, as quoted by Motosan.es:
– Regarding Martín, I think he perfectly demonstrates that he has adapted to the 2024 bike, while Marc, I believe, joined Ducati with the right attitude. He never asks for anything more unless Gigi Dall’Igna provides it. Therefore, he shows us a really perfect attitude. That’s why he will be the rider for the factory team in 2025.
