The MotoGP Emilia-Romagna GP kicked off at Misano, with Marc Márquez setting the fastest time in the first free practice session this morning. Due to wet track conditions, many riders stayed in the garage for over 20 minutes.
In the early moments, with the track still damp, only two riders initially took to the circuit: Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) and Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM). Soon after, Marco Bezzecchi (Pertamina Enduro VR46/Ducati) joined them.
By the halfway point of the session, only seven riders had completed at least one flying lap: Binder, Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM), Augusto Fernández (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM), Bezzecchi, Maverick Viñales (Aprilia), Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha), and Acosta.
As the session progressed, more riders ventured out. With 18 minutes left, Viñales dethroned Binder, who had held the top spot for a while. Quartararo then took the lead, consistently improving his time until Acosta snatched the lead in the final ten minutes.
However, Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) soon set the pace, followed closely by Márquez (Gresini/Ducati). The eight-time world champion still had something left in the tank, delivering his two fastest laps at the end to edge out Martín by just 0.063s.
Franco Morbidelli (Prima Pramac/Ducati) secured third place, while Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Viñales completed the top five, with Viñales finishing 0.409s off the top.
