Marc Márquez had a close collaboration with Emilio Alzamora, but after about 18 years working with his (former) career manager, he decided to end the relationship and take a different path. Now, he has revisited the subject in an interview with Manuel Peccino, where he talked about the meaning of the separation with the manager:
– What it meant to me was different needs. A rider doesn’t have the same needs as he gets older. Many times, no matter how passionate you are at 18, it doesn’t mean she’s the woman of your life. So there comes a point, either because of the moment I was in, or what I needed, I started to understand personal life in a different way.
The rider also remembered the very positive work he did with Alzamora, but recalled that, for him, at that moment, he needed to change some things in his career: ‘And you have to make certain decisions for the well-being of everyone. We always did an impeccable job together, but there were different needs and I felt at that moment that I needed a change’.
Marc Márquez returned to victories in MotoGP in 2024 and is preparing to be back on a factory team in 2025, the Ducati Lenovo Team.
