This year, the regulations regarding minimum tyre pressures in MotoGP have changed – both in terms of penalties and values, with the minimum decreasing to 1.8 bar.
Marc Márquez, who rides for Gresini, said in a press conference that it is a significant change, but emphasized that whether with or without regulations, it is important for performance to operate with the ideal tyre pressure:
– It’s a small step, but a big step. It’s super difficult to control the pressure even if you are alone or behind somebody. But in the end if this is a safety issue we need to adapt and of course if it’s going to a super high pressure there is lack of performance. But if we you are going low, I feel lack of performance too. So in the end you need to work in the correct tyre pressure.
