Next season, Marc Márquez will join Gresini in MotoGP, where his teammate will be his brother Álex. This will be the second time they are on the same team, following their stint together at Repsol Honda in 2020.
The #73, who joined Gresini earlier this year, assured Catalunya Radio that he never told Marc to join Ducati and revealed the main doubt the six-time premier class champion had before deciding:
– I never told him to come to Ducati. Marc is very intelligent; you don’t need to tell him anything. He knows where he was, what my shortcomings are, and what is most challenging for me… He had doubts if his style would adapt to Ducati, but ultimately, there were eight riders with different styles who were fast with the bike, and that gave him a lot of confidence.
Álex Márquez didn’t refrain from giving his opinion to Marc but admitted he did so more as a brother: ‘Of course, he asked me things, but I gave him my opinion not so much as a Ducati rider but as a brother. Because I saw everything that happened since 2020, which was very tough for him’.
