Marc Márquez once again demonstrated a spirit of resilience and ability to recover within the reach of few, even more so after crashing in today’s long race in Sepang. He doesn’t know the reasons that led to his crash, but he accepts it, underlining the comeback and the points scored.
Faced with yet another fall, the former world champion revealed that he can’t explain what happened, because in his opinion he didn’t do anything different to justify such a situation:
– In Thailand I said that okay, I understood the crash but today… I passed the finish line straight, I saw that [Enea] Bastianini was 2.5s away and I said: «Okay, I’m going to control the distance to him now» and yes… I didn’t brake late, I didn’t brake harder but I crashed. Sometimes you can’t explain, I accept my mistake.
Still, the Gresini Racing rider, who crashed when he was third, wanted to return to action out of ‘respect’ for his team, and even with the damaged bike he managed to finish, and even score some more important points in the fight for the third position in the overall standings: ‘I returned to the race, I finished, but of course the bike was a bit damaged on the gear lever but out of respect for the team I decided to finish the race and I got some points’.
It should be noted that at this stage and after the Malaysian GP Márquez remains third, although he sees Bastianini just one point behind, making this another interesting duel in the final round of the year, in Catalunya.
