Marc Márquez and Pedro Acosta had a very intense battle yesterday during the long race in Losail, with the rookie getting to overtake the veteran. The former world champion praised the way the #31 had his move on him, considering that it was it was ‘the attitude of a champion’.
Speaking to the press at Qatar, Márquez, who eventually got to return the move to the rookie, recalled the moment he saw Acosta getting past him: ‘He passed me and I was expecting it, because on saturday he had a good Sprint Race. Above all, when the pace is not very fast, you expect people to arrive who, well, as a rookie, surely when he passed me I wasn’t conserving the tyres very much’.
A while after Márquez did overtake back and said that for the Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 it is all part of his evolution: ‘And in fact, at the end I don’t know if he made a mistake or something, but well, you learn that way’.
For the Gresini Rider, the way Acosta was on track was really interesting: ‘The attitude he had was like a champion, like what he did last year in Moto2. And the truth is that he was going fast, he had very strong points and he will be polishing it. Soon he will be fighting for the podium and will give a scare in some race’.
