Next season, Manuel Poggiali will be coaching riders both at Ducati and Gresini. Therefore, he will be working closely with two potential title contenders—Francesco Bagnaia and Marc Márquez. To what extent could this situation be considered a conflict of interest?
The Italian assured that this issue won’t arise, stating to Corse di Moto: ‘First of all, being a professional, I know what my tasks are, and I will respect them with the greatest spirit of sharing and data analysis, which already exists at Ducati and has been carried out for some time. With my activity, I will only bring enrichment to this sector, working directly, in particular, with Ducati and Gresini. From my point of view, I will be clear about certain things, and obviously, as a professional, I will respect what I have to do. This seems very obvious to me’.
Poggiali added: ‘You also have to value people and people’s honesty. I will do my job in the best possible way, respecting everyone: what Ducati and Gresini want. I see no conflicts of interest but only raising the bar further for realities that are already highly competitive’.
