Johann Zarco was Honda’s top rider this year overall and Lucio Cecchinello admitted that there were times of great tension in the team’s garage, with the rider showing frustration and not hiding it, as the manager admitted.
The team owner was interviewed by GPOne and recalled the arrival of #5 at LCR Honda, and how he knew in advance that he would go through difficulties: ‘The first thing was to be very sincere and very honest with him, besides Johann knew he was going to ride a less competitive bike. No one like a rider knows how to see the merits and defects of the opponent’s bike, so he knew it was going to be difficult, but even he expected better at the beginning of the season’.
Cecchinello then did not hide that there were more difficult moments in the garage with Zarco not hiding his dissatisfaction with the difficulties and not avoiding to show it precisely… verbally:
– We had moments, and I’m not ashamed to say it, of tension in the box. Sometimes he would come back and express his frustration at not being able to be fast. Some ‘putain!’ flew around! (laughs). It’s okay, but we have to wash our dirty laundry at home and outside the walls of the box he didn’t express his frustration in the same way.
