The penultimate round of the Italian Speed Championship (CIV) took place this weekend in Imola, where Luca Salvadori was officially crowned champion posthumously in the National Trophy 1000 category.
On September 14, the Italian rider tragically passed away due to an accident during a race in Frohburg, Germany, part of the International Road Racing Championship (IRRC).
Heading into the final round, Salvadori could still have been overtaken by Filippo Roveli. However, Roveli and his team decided to withdraw from the race, allowing their late rival to be crowned champion.
In Imola, where Gabriele Ruiu claimed victory, Salvadori’s title was confirmed. He holds a 29-point lead, with only 25 points left in play during the final race, which will take place in Cervesina on October 12 and 13.
