Luca Marini won the Americana, the individual night race of the 100km dei Campioni held this Friday at Valentino Rossi’s ranch in Tavullia.
The Honda MotoGP rider had already been the fastest in yesterday’s free practice sessions. In the race, he continued his strong performance and defeated the competition just as he did last year.
Franco Morbidelli, who will ride for MotoGP with Pertamina Enduro VR46 this year, beat his «boss» and host, Valentino Rossi, in an exciting battle for second place. Il Dottore fell on the last corner, dropping him to third.
After the race, Marini spoke on VR46 Riders Academy’s social media: ‘I’m happy. […]. I pushed as much as possible on Vale, even right behind him, and he made a small mistake. I managed to trick him, and after that, when you reach the first corner in the lead, everything is under control’.
