Honda has shown some progress in MotoGP, and Luca Marini arrives at the Thai GP with some confidence – believing in the possibility of fighting for a spot in the second qualifying.
In a press conference in Buriram, the Italian rider for Repsol Honda highlighted the recent improvements, although he admits that the RC213V still has some gaps in its performance:
– I think we’ll have to wait unti Friday, because every time we change the track, we have to set up the bike a bit and to understand our performance in that situation. But, for sure we’ve made a huge step forward in these last races. The bike has improved so much, it’s super nice to ride, but it still misses some performance, and this is a track that uses a lot of power.
That said, Marini expressed confidence in the chance to fight for the top 12 in qualifying: ‘We also have to understand the grip level of the track. If we are able to find a good compromise on the bike, for sure we can try to make it to the Q2. This will be the first target; and then, if you start from a good position on the grid, the race can be very positive’.
