Aprilia Racing has welcomed a heavyweight rider into its structure, none other than the current MotoGP world champion, and Lorenzo Savadori is happy to welcome the rider, but mentions that there is work to be done.
The Italian manufacturer’s test driver was asked by GPOne about the responsibility of having a rider with such status in the team and whether it is a responsibility: ‘Yes, but he is a professional. We are aware that we have to make every effort and always give 100%’.
Seeing the RS-GP with the #1 was something he enjoyed: ‘Anyway, the bike with the number 1 is beautiful, and it was exciting to see it when it was presented.’
And although the bike that will be used by the team this coming season is a step forward, the truth is that development has not stopped, and Savadori is working with the team on what to implement throughout the season, and whether a significant step has been taken. Regarding the 2024 version, he left a guarantee: ‘Yes, but there is still work to be done. We are now implementing ideas that we will apply throughout the season.’
It remains to be seen what Aprilia will be able to do with an all-new line-up, with Marco Bezzecchi paired with Martín in the works team, both coming from Ducati – Martín from Pramac Racing, with the Desmosedici GP24, and Bezzecchi from the VR46 Racing Team with the GP23.
