Jorge Martín briefly led the MotoGP World Championship after the sprint race in the Indonesian GP. However, he retired from the main race in Mandalika and then, in Australia, lost the lead on the final lap due to a wrong choice of the soft rear tyre. Nevertheless, the Prima Pramac rider arrives at the Thai GP confident in his competitiveness.
During a press conference, the Spanish rider didn’t hide the fact that the outcomes of the two previous rounds were hard to accept, but there were also indicators that leave him feeling confident:
– For sure the last two weekends were really painful – leading a lot of laps and then one because of a crash and another one because I took the wrong tyre. But I was fast, this is the thing that keeps me alive – I know I have the speed. So hopefully… you never know when you arrive to a new track, but for sure last season I was strong, so I’m confident that with this new bike I can be fast also. The mentality is always to attack and to try to win both races.
Regarding Australia, Martín recalled: ‘It was tough. I was convinced that I did the right choice and the last four laps were a nightmare, trying to put all my best skills to try to not crash, to try to be fast with that tyre. It is what it is, I move on and I will try this weekend’.
